Clare Castle

Clare Castle, was first constructed in the 11th century by a Norman knight named Richard FitzGilbert. Eventually taking the town name as his family name, the de Clare's owned the castle for many centuries. By 1360 though, it'd gone to the Crown, and unfortunately by the sixteenth century was in disrepair.

We also had a wander around the country park, and discovered a disused station and railway line :)
